Even Fewer Words Than Usual

Because we are trying to make dinner. This is still the problem with House being on at 7. *insert remark about world revolving only around me here*

House and Wilson are sleeping together.

There. I never thought I'd say that for real. Even though they're both keeping zipped. *g*

The special effects were COOL, and I loved Thirteen and Taub playing the game, with Taub ending up on the floor.

Is Peter Jacobson leaving? NO, I WANT HIM TO STAY!

If House really isn't using (and I don't think he is) then why did he get a dog to pee in Wilson's toilet? And come on, can you really tell a dog breed by its urine? Or was he just messing with Wilson's mind because he knew Wilson SUSPECTED he was using?

Or did I totally miss something and IT'S REALLY REALLY OBVIOUS? It wouldn't be the first time.

Foreman is a nitwit. I still don't care about Thirteen. The cooking school scene ("You saved my balls") was made of awesome.

I'm sure there's more but we're hungry.

No, Taub! Don't leave! I need my short, sarcastic plastic surgeon fix.

"I'm a lizard," he says and taking down Foreman with one quick quip mocking his "altruism."

I don't want Taub to leave! I adore Peter Jacobson! He's quick and funny, he can be a jerk when the script demands and a tender, caring husband when the script demands. He's just wonderful.

If you need a Peter Jacobson fix, I can hook you up with the miniseries The Lost Room. Might take a few days with postage and all that, though.

Hee! Thanks for the offer, but I've got WAY TOO MUCH to read and watch already.

House isn't using. He was screwing with Wilson's mind because he knew Wilson suspected it.

Taub said he came there to work with House, so I'm sure that once House decides to come back, Taub will stay.

Loved this episode aside from the Foreteen overload.

That's my interpretation too, and I hope we're right because I love Taub!
I really hate Foreman. The feeling will subside to just dislike soon enough I'm sure, because I don't care enough about him to substain hatred, but 23 minutes post ep hate is what I'm still feeling.

[identity profile] namasteyoga.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm odd about Foreman. I'm fascinated with him as a screwed up character (a completely different screwed up than House) but don't sympathize with him, so watching him -- for me -- is like watching the odd dances of a lab rat. I'm entertained, amused and fascinated by what happens to him under the impact of different stimulii, but at the same time -- he's a rat, so I don't get emotionally attached.

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't sympathize with him.

YES, THIS. That's it exactly. There have been moments when I did, such as when he was trying so hard to help that Roma boy who turned out to have swallowed the toothpick. Then, I liked and sympathized with Foreman.

Otherwise? Not so much. He's got House's arrogance without House's humility (yes, I said "House's humility" and meant it) and sense of humor.

[identity profile] sabra-n.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
That pretty much sums up how I feel about him, too. Though he did have some good moments smacking down the patient this week.

God, the patient was driving me crazy. It didn't help that I really, really didn't care about him.

All of this, but I do have to admit he's awfully nice to look at. Especially when he's only half-dressed.

Lord, yes.

I didn't think House was using -- thinking about it now, it seems like a callback to the premiere with all the urine fakeouts. I still want to know who has the Labrador. Heh.

And yeah, too much Foreteen. Grr.

*uses my Chango icon, even though she's not a Labrador. Hee.*

Jews don't have godchildren. Unless Wilson's brother converted and managed to guilt him into the arrangement.

Other than that, still entertaining.

[identity profile] verbal-kint10.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I know Jews can't have godchildren, but they can be godparents, right? I mean, I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of his patients made him the godfather of their kid.

Sorry if I'm way off base; my knowledge of Judaism is...limited, to say the least.

[identity profile] hannahrorlove.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
A godparent, either father or mother, is someone whom the direct parents entrust with the responsibility of raising their child within the church if the child is orphaned. So to hear Wilson say "godson" threw me for a loop.

A patient of his could ask, but it'd be a huge and unusual thing to ask of him, even if it is Wilson and he did go about creating your life-saving treatment plan, given that he's supposed to pray in a synagogue.

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Um, I understood that Stephen Fry was godparent to Hugh Laurie's kids, and they're both atheists.

I think what it means depends upon who one asks.

[identity profile] hannahrorlove.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair, I was looking at the question from a more religious standpoint, not a more general cultural one - Judaism doesn't happen on my TV too much, so it's something I feel kind of particular about.

I hadn't heard of it being that in that more general form, though. Something to research beyond Wikipedia.

[identity profile] nightdog-barks.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm ... thinking that possibly Wilson was raised in a very Reform family, and doesn't see any conflict in being a godparent. We've already seen that he's a fairly unobservant Jew, and I know that Mr. N's youngest brother and his wife (they have two daughters) have non-Jewish godparents for their kids.

I know that David Shore is Jewish, and has two brothers who are both rabbis, so ... I dunno. It didn't trip me up. I know it's not traditional Judaism, but then, I don't think this is traditional television. :-)

[identity profile] hannahrorlove.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think this is traditional television.

Can't argue with that, and can't say I want to. :) Like I said, Judaism on TV is something I feel kind of particular about. But yeah, given the Reform movement these days, godparents could well be a term used these days.

The dog urine thing annoyed me, because it dropped me right out of the story - for one thing, you most certainly can't tell what breed of dog it is from the urine (unless there are epithelial or other DNA-containing cells in there and you test the DNA /pedantic ) and also, if you're testing for the presence of Vicodin, you probably wouldn't be bothered testing for anything else. AFAIK there is no standard urine test available for "what species peed this?" D:<

/rant

I loved all the House/Wilson bits, and loved the Taub/13 in the game - that was beatifully done, as was the hallucination-in-the-hospital-lobby scene.

I want Taub to stay, too - hopefully he will stay since we know House is (at some point) coming back to work.

I had absolutely NO idea that House was the one who provided the correct diagnosis - it actually took me a moment of "why has he got a cheque for $25000?" before the light dawned (assisted by House saying he'd 'won' it). Oh dear!

The cooking was wonderful, including the bits back at Wilson's place. I could have watched a whole episode of that :D

Wilson did say they found unusual epithelial cells in the specimen. My guess is he ordered a cell smear and DNA test after the Vicodin test came back clean?

What is it about the path to a man's heart is through his stomach? :-D

[identity profile] daisylily.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely :D

The urine thing tweaked my suspension-of-disbelief a bit beyond what I can ignore (plus I'm not sure you can tell the difference between dog and human epithelial cells anyway with any standard testing). I don't know why it annoyed me so much since it's not as if House is a paragon of accuracy or anything XD

[identity profile] roga.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, House was just messing around with Wilson. I loved the revelation that "I slipped" was referring to the case -- caught me by surprise and made me squee. And oh, so much delightful House/Wilson in this episode!

Someone wrote a fic once about Wilson cooking -- I know, there are a million, but someone wrote a short one once that really captured that feel of being in the kitchen and the scents and the sounds and why he does it, and I can't remember who it was. Hmm.

It's not The Emperor of Nebraska, is it? (It's another of Nightdog's.)

That's one of my favourite fics - it makes me feel as if I'm right there in the kitchen with House and Wilson, smelling the bread dough.

I will be very unhappy if Taub leaves. I love that acid-tongued little guy.

Who was the check made out to? House flashed it so fast I couldn't tell if he'd used his real name.

Yeah, I'm hoping that these other folks are right, and that once House comes back Taub will too. I haven't heard any spoilers about Peter Jacobson leaving.

The check was made out to either Greg or Gregory House -- I can't remember which, now, but it was his real name.
