Yes, More Blah Blah About That Show

I know some of you guys love spoilers and some of you hate spoilers. Or ... you don't hate them, you just don't want to read them. So (as always) I'm putting this one behind a cut. It's for an episode that apparently will air in November, and it's RSL telling TV Guide something. It's nothing horrible, but it does sound as if it might be somewhat angsty.

Lake Arrowhead sets the scene for House's November sweeps episode. "We go to a resort [for a] conference," says Robert Sean Leonard. "Wilson goes up there with a very clear idea of what he wants to say. He's giving a lecture and he wants to talk about something that House thinks will end his career. It's actually more serious."

Source, although for some odd reason the link takes you to the bottom of the article.

WILSON TELLS EVERYONE HE LOVES HOUSE AND ALSO THAT HE BELIEVES IN ASSISTED SUICIDE BECAUSE THAT'S HOW GRACE REALLY DIED OOPS DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING.

:P

I'm sure it'll be something out of the blue that we could never possibly guess that will have no context whatsoever untl the actual episode airs, but boy, what a tease! That's the way to do a spoiler, dammit.

LOL! Isn't that a great spoiler? Damn RSL! The first place my mind went was the Grace Affair, but I'm terribly curious as to what could be more serious.

And yeah, since the ZOMG THE WRITERS/PRODUCERS ARE LYING LIARS wank finally died down, I went back to the Spoiler Spec thread. *g*

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
IF THE WANK HAS DIED DOWN THERE I WILL BRING THE WANK TO YOU, NO WORRIES.

JUST KIDDING :D Puir wee souls, they do their level best. If you want to shout at someone, why not the producers?

THE SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT, IT BURNS!!!!!!

Good God, Leia, it's just nuts. It's a FREAKIN' TV SHOW. As much of a viewing interest we all have in it, IT'S NOT OURS. You know, what would happen if the producers and writers told the absolute truth, all the time? People would bitch and moan get upset about that too. Plus it would be a sign of the Apocalypse, and Hollywood would implode and fall into the sea.

Heh.

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hollywood would implode and fall into the sea.

So true. And people wouldn't believe them. And snippets still wouldn't make sense out of context.

When I get mad at a tv show/book series/film/whatever, I just write a massive self-insert therapy fanfic and live there instead. Or hey, guess what? STOP WATCHING IF IT ONLY CAUSES YOU PAIN. THERE I SAID IT.

If you don't hear from me ever again, the raging fans got me :D

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I love you too!

Seriously, spec just turns into psychological torture and it never lives up to what people want. Why do that to yourself? Unless the internet is home to untold hordes of emotional masochists.

Um, nevermind.

Psychological torture ...

Oh, wait. You weren't talking about --

Okay, never mind. ;-)

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
YES. Wilson is forced to write pages and pages of spoiler spec about House's favorite soap operas. I think it can be your next blockbuster!

[identity profile] m-supercomputer.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, spec can be fun if you have absolutely no expectations and, in general, assume you'll probably be wrong. *g* Most people have trouble getting the hang of that, though, it's very true...

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, if you're not attached to it! That doesn't seem to be the way it happens on the boards/my friendslist, though.

Yeah, not to mention that they may be fairly honest, at each particular point in time -- but the creative process is an unpredictable thing. Stuff changes on the fly. Your own story makes a liar out of you; you don't intend for it to be that way, but it happens.

I wish they'd have cut Thirteen instead, personally, but ... whatever.

Well, did he mean what he actually says in his lecture is more serious, or that his part in the show is more serious, as in, compared to the usual? RSL is not a very articulate guy at times because he hates being interviewed.

Heh, I know. My assumption was that it was either the lecture that was more serious, or the possible consequences/fallout from the lecture.

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. Wonder if it has anything to do with the patient Wilson slept with way back when?

Also, Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? Worse than ending Wilson's career? Are we looking at the possibility of Severe Wilson Damage?

And how much joy will there be in Dogville if that is the case?

*g*
ext_25882: (Red Devil)

[identity profile] nightdog-barks.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, Grace Whatshername was my immediate thought, but why would he want to reveal that now?

And how much joy will there be in Dogville if that is the case?

Dude, I'd be happy if Wilson got a friggin' headache. Heh.

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
If it does have to do with her and is worse than career ending, then maybe Wilson has a Horrible Wasting Disease. Who knew cancer was an STD?

Just sayin'.
ext_25882: (Looking West)

[identity profile] nightdog-barks.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, an STD was something that got talked about when that episode aired. I'd really rather he had something else, though, if he has to have something.

Yes, I know, I'm contradictory. I contain multitudes. *g*

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Anything else is just so hard to catch! Maybe Wilson feels so guilty he's going to join a monastery.

You can never go wrong with Whitman.

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean -- I could see there being merely some kind of threat of Severe Wilson Damage (seriously -- worse than career-ending? Is he planning to admit he writes Harry Potter NC17 fanfic -- and thus get not only fired but also sued for copyright violation?).

This should be interesting, if for no other reason than to find out a. what could be that bad and b. what House does about the situation, trying (as House surely will) to save Wilson from himself.

... what House does about the situation, trying (as House surely will) to save Wilson from himself.

This, precisely. This is what I want to see.

:-)

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
House has a history of trying to save Wilson from himself -- and God knows someone needs to -- and so far we've seen him do that in some amazingly weird ways.

I remain convinced that's much (not all, but much) of the reason for the speeeeeeed dosing; it was certainly the motive for the frivolous lawsuit House encouraged.

I'd say the erasing of messages to try to get Wilson to stay at House's place was partly motivated by the same thing. Wilson needed him. House knew that even if Wilson didn't want to see it.

ext_25882: (Puccini)

[identity profile] nightdog-barks.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I just thought of one other thing -- maybe House thinks Wilson is going to talk about medical marijuana. And perhaps when Wilson was rolling joints, it wasn't allowed in New Jersey (I don't know if it is now or not).

See, perhaps the "more serious" part? Isn't just that it could end Wilson's career, but that he could go to jail.

TA-DA!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. That's a thought, I suppose. Wilson had his door closed and locked the one time we saw him rolling joints; House barged in from the balcony.

I think it's safe to assume it isn't legal.

*sighs*

I just love it, LOVE IT, when we see House trying in his own amazingly Housey way to rescue Wilson.

Absolutely. I'm really looking forward to see how this all plays out. And it's good to have an episode tonight.

[identity profile] verbal-kint10.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Mare, I'm pretty sure Nightdog only linked to this on her LJ because she wrote the episode. Yes, I'm 100% positive that Doris Egan was searching through the interwebs in search of effective ways to hurt Wilson and then decided it was too much and she needed to hand it over to Nightdog.

Nothing wrong with self-promotion...as long as Wilson suffers. DUN DUN DUN.

P.S. Mare, I feel as though this is odd to say, but you might find it enjoyable to know that I can do a spot-on Pinky impression. That and my Christopher Walken are really all I have going for me in life. Dream big, though. :D

[identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh.

My good friend and I were hiking in October in the North Carolina mountains. Came upon a spot on the trail where the sun was blazing a golden path up the stone slope, lighting the trees in a particularly majestic fashion.

Awed by the sight, in perfect synchrony, we said:

"Naaaaaaarrrf."

Somehow, I am not surprised that you make an excellent Pinky. *g*

Can you imagine what would really happen if Nightdog wrote an episode of House? Wow. I'd LOVE that.

But she'd probably need two hours, just like the season premiere. One hour to break Wilson into tiny little Oncologist Crumbles (TM) and another to (mostly) put him back together.

[identity profile] namasteyoga.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
My completely guessed guess: since oncologists often deal with prescribing high levels of opiate painkillers and there's a lot of controversy involving those prescriptions, Wilson's topic is on opiates and addiction and his own culpability in House's addiction. House tells him to shut up, because he sees his addiction as his issue, and he was merely "taking advantage of my friend," as he put it in the party sequence last week.

[identity profile] nightdog-barks.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that's a fascinating hypothesis! I can see Wilson doing something like that, too, and if he somehow got tagged as an overprescriber or even a distributor, that could have very serious consequences.

[identity profile] daasgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, this season is getting better all the time. In theory, anyway. As you can see, I've completely blown my non-spoiler policy out of the water this season...

Honestly, just the thought of Wilson giving a lecture is pretty damn exciting. Who knew he had a professional life outside 'minding House'? XD
