And the Adventure Continues ...

Response time has dropped considerably, and I haven't even tried to log onto AOL yet. I'm thinking part of the reason is that there are 3 security-software programs on this laptop, even though 2 of them aren't working correctly (the Norton that came pre-loaded can't run a live update because there's a coding bug, and while Spyware Doctor will run a scan, it won't remove any Bad Things it finds without a registration number -- i.e., a purchased, licensed version of Spyware Doc, as opposed to the free trial version I had. This only started yesterday.)

That leaves AVG, which is running and probably disagreeing vehemently with Norton and S.D every step of the way.

In other news, sunny and warm. Chango is downstairs, lying on the cool foyer tiles. Huge nightmare at 5:45 this morning (you don't even want to know). Gah.

ETA: Have uninstalled Spyware Doctor and response time has jumped exponentially. Sheesh. Looking at ways to uninstall Norton.

I've just uninstalled Spyware Doctor and already that's helped response time immensely.

Looking into uninstalling Norton now.

I just love how technology makes our lives so much easier. *g*

Seconding the "Norton fights AVG" thing. That exact thing happened to me; I just stuck with AVG. Mostly, I can't wait until the next version of Firefox gets out of beta so my favorite browser will stop eating all my memory.

We Apple users pretty much escape these kinds of issues, but you still have my deepest sympathies.
