Doing Our Part To Stimulate the Economy

Bought a new TV -- a sweet little 32" Sharp LCD.

It's so light. And shiny. *stares at TV*

I'm going to have to do that soon, mine is DYING. I hope I can make it last till the $600 check of Bushdesperation arrives.

*nods*

Our old one was dying -- one morning we thought it had really kicked the bucket, but then the picture came back. It was getting progressively darker though, and the color was getting really wonky -- greens were purples, and true black-and-white (like most of the movies on TCM) had a weird purplish tint.

Mr. Nightdog sat next to a guy who works for Sony on a flight a few days ago, and he recommended Sharp and Samsung as good alternatives to (high-priced) Sonys. So we got this at Best Buy today. Meanwhile, our little JVC in the bedroom is still plugging along (crosses fingers).

I'm afraid we did our bit this weekend also, with buying a new armchair for Corgiguy (he sits in one when he works from home) and paying our taxes.

The last time we were in Circuit City, I was mesmerized by how good the picture quality now is on TVs. It's almost better than seeing something with your own eyes.

We haven't paid our taxes yet -- we need to do that (although for us it just involves signing the papers and sending them back to our Wonderwoman!CPA.

Heh! Isn't it incredible? The thing that really gets me is how thin the sets are now -- it's just amazing that we've progressed so far beyond the monster bulky picture tubes.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go chase those rotten kids off my lawn again. ;-D

Ah, I have television envy. Not only because there's no cable or satellite at Chez Mare, but because the Mare TV is ... at least fifteen years old, and probably more like eighteen.

It works okay, but I have this creeping feeling that its days are numbered. Especially considering the Massive Technology Dieoff I've had around here of late.

Sadly enough, the Sylvania was only about six years old. The JVC in the bedroom has held up much better.

I've got one of those, except mine is a Sony Bravia. Aren't they wonderful?
