Bye bye birdie

As if overnight, the goldfinches have vanished. A few of the juncos are still around. Mourning doves, white-winged doves, blue jays, cardinals, chickadees, and titmice and wrens are still in residence. But no goldfinches.

Read Karen Thompson Walker's The Age of Miracles and liked it quite a lot. Now reading Margot Lee Shetterly's Hidden Figures, and so far it is very good.

Well, I guess that means I’ll be seeing goldfinches up here pretty soon! :-D

There are still cardinals around — not here at my place but I have been seeing them at the Art Center — and of course a lot of hawks, and the other day at class I looked out the window and spotted a pileated woodpecker, which always makes me happy.

The sun’s been out here today and it feels so WARM after all those weeks and weeks of polar vortex.

I'm reading a book that combines Pride and Prejudice with Shelley's Frankenstein. So far Mary Beckett and Victor Frankenstein have become friends and Mary is falling for him, and they're being stalked by the Creature.
