Tagines are always good! A well done tagine can make even otherwise unpleasant things tasty. (I don't like mutton for example -- i.e., sheep for clarity, not goat, which I adore. But in a good tagine mutton is tasty. I even make one myself occasionally for variety.)
If you want to add something else authentic to the recipe consider adding cubeb. It gives a sweet/spicy/tangy je ne sais quoi that no other spice does. Also if possible the dates should be Medjools, though I do not know if those are available in you part of the world.
