Tuesday
Well, the sun is trying to come out. Still a bit cool at 66 degrees (18.8 Celsius).
Wren Update: On the nest yesterday, not this morning. The five eggs are still whole.
Not much, so here's an interesting interview with the British novelist David Mitchell (Ghostwritten, Cloud Atlas, Black Swan Green). I'm a big Mitchell fan, and was just delighted to see he's got a new book out. In the interview, he talks about the difficulties and accompanying terrors of writing in the third person (he was afraid of not knowing where to stop) and the limits his children might face if he and his family had continued to live in Japan (his wife is Japanese). The interview is here.
In other news, Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall is garnering bets to be the first Booker/Orange Prize double winner. Lorrie Moore's A Gate at the Stairs and Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna are also in the running.
So. Poem coming up.

I knew my cousin was of that branch of the family that's somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun ... this is the first email I've gotten in a while. It has a photo of the President carrying a book entitled The Post-American World, which proves (a) he's plotting TEH DOWNFALL OF AMERICA! and (b) he's a Muslim, because the book was written by a Muslim. You know. Fareed Zakaria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fareed_Zakaria), that FAMOUS ISLAMIC FIREBRAND.
Oy.

I have been chipping away at the massive to-do list the Padre left for me -- he's in Louisiana on continuing education -- and have made good headway.

...actually, tea sounds like just the thing. I think I'll make some.

Today hasn't been very productive for me so far ... I did get the trash set out, which is a good thing. *g* I'm still shaking my head over my cousin (see my reply to Perspi). And I've got a first line that's niggling at the back of my brain sparked by the PPTH Support post by K-gal, but it doesn't want to go anywhere. Grrrr.

Seriously: Lindt dark chocolate, with a touch of sea salt. I would TOTALLY share it with you. :)

You obviously don't have to answer that if you don't want to, just curious.

Heh. I should tell her I write MEN IN LOVE, with optional HOTT GAY SEXX0RS BOOM CHICKA BOW WOW and watch her run away screaming. Except then she'd probably start sending me Bible verses.

Probably she would. You'd become a "project" for her, and nobody wants that.

Now I have a reason to stop at the drugstore on the way home and get some of dat old ebbil Socialist Chocolate. *G*

I thought about saying something, but ... there honestly doesn't seem to be any reasoning with people like this. For everything you say, they have another (crazy) fallback. And in the end, you can't reason with crazy. It's like arguing with a troll on the Internet. They're never going to change their mind and it's like banging your head against a brick wall.

In other news, I am displeased to find that Art Center the First must have kindly held registration open for another day or two for me, because I have a beginning drawing class there on Thursday evening, just when I thought I was going to get a break. :-P

Because obviously, nobody can read a book written by someone with a differing viewpoint from their own. If you're reading it, you agree 100% with everything in the book and in the author's belief system.
