Hardly any words at all! *g*

Gosh, House sure can be a manipulative bitch bastard. Who knew? /sarcasm meter off the charts here/

That was ... interesting. But it sure was great to see Taub again.

Guess I need to tweak that little Cameron-centric speculative ficlet I wrote ...

Making beef stew tonight. Mmmm ... beef stew.

Interesting is a good word. House was being a bastard, but I wonder if he broke Chase and Cameron up or just hurried the breakup along.

I'm honestly curious as to how the House-is-a-saint folks will try to spin this, but I don't care enough to venture into that space to find out.

It will be ALL CUDDY'S FAULT this time, is my guess, for rejecting poor woobie House. Because we didn't really see Wilson enough for it to be his fault. Unless it's somehow Wilson's fault for not being involved enough.

I'd be willing to put cash money on their argument being that House wanted them to end their doomed marriage quickly, rather than have to suffer through dragging it out. *g*

And honestly, I do think that was part of House's reasoning; he's got that kind of philosophy.

The selfish assholery cannot be denied, though. Or at least, it can't be denied except by self-delusion, and of course nobody in fandom ever does THAT.

I definitely think House saw it as just speeding up the inevitable collapse. But I think if House had been willing to let them go, they'd very likely have made it.

I love House, but I kind of hope Chase breaks House's nose.

See, I don't think they would have made it at all -- unless Chase always did whatever Cameron wanted out of guilt. She was in high holy judgmental mode, and I don't think that would have stopped anytime soon.

Actually, I think it was better for Chase to speak his mind and say he wanted to stay than to have meekly gone along. The marriage might have lasted, but would it have been any kind of a partnership? I can see Chase as going back to the brown noser back in the first season, rather than the guy who gained confidence in himself and his abilities as the series progressed. I liked that Chase. (So did Cameron at one point, when she claimed she "liked him better this way," but that Chase would have been dead.)

I completely agree with you about Cameron and Chase. (To be completely honest I never saw why they were together.) Yet, I also want to see Chase break House's nose.

So do I. House was a meddling, manipulative ass more interested in proving a point than actually helping a patient. But that doesn't mean that he wasn't right, to some degree.

If he was a nice guy, he would have sent them on their way, wished them well and kept his mouth shut. But I'm much more entertained by this guy and his screwed up issues.

When House's new, improved behaviors don't get him what he wants, he'll happily go back to his old tactics, won't he?

I'm pissed at him for what he did to Chase and Cameron, and for what he's apparently planning to do to Cuddy and Lucas. House, honey, that's not love. And if Wilson doesn't point that out, I'll be pissed at him, too.

What he's planning to do to Cuddy and Lucas? Oh God, was there something in the promo? I didn't see it.
Unless you're referring to Chase and Cameron, in which case I'll say that yes it was horrible but he's never claimed to love them.

Depends how much House tells him or how much he sees. If he doesn't know, he can't tell House what he needs to hear, and House may hide it from him for that exact reason.

I'll make the popcorn.

I wasn't thrilled with Wilson's tactics with Cuddy at the beginning of the ep, either, and I was very happy when she told him off.

Wilson has got to stop meddling. He's like the world's most inept Yenta when it comes to House and Cuddy.

All in all, this ranks with the episode about the devious lesbian who needs a liver transplant after contracting plague on my personal list of episodes in which House gets an Olympic gold in bitter, cold-hearted bastardry.

House was doing so well... maybe "losing" Cuddy sent him off the deep end emotionally.
Wilson was meddling and he needed to shut the hell up, but Cuddy and House have both insisted he carry the mantle of House Whisperer. That means putting up with the meddling.

One note about Wilson's tactics -- Did you see him smile after she told him off? I think he was hoping to get a definitive statement from her as to whether she really wanted to be with Lucas or she was just trying to make House jealous, so that Wilson would decide which tactic he'd take with House. And he got a definitive statement, one that Cuddy intends to be in charge of her own life, and that made him happy. : )

Despite the anvils crashing around Cameron as she made her speech to House, she was right. I don't like House much at all tonight. This was him being a selfish, controlling bastard without the brilliance and wit.

I didn't like House tonight either and thought a lot of what she said was true, but in the end I can't agree with her that it's his fault Chase did what he did. He does negatively influence people, but Chase is a grown man. He's responsible for his own actions.

Date: 2009-11-17 02:35 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pwcorgigirl.livejournal.com
I agree. Chase is a grown man and is responsible for what he did, but I think I need to rewatch this episode again because I think House lied to Chase, thus deliberately spurring their break-up. IIRC, House told Chase that Cameron blamed him (House) for what Chase did when it appeared the thought had never crossed her mind at that point. Maybe this was House's super-sekrit "I can see into your subconscious" powers at work, but it wasn't set up well and it looked like he pulled that out of thin air to do the most harm possible to their relationship.

Date: 2009-11-17 02:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] taiga13.livejournal.com
Hmm, I'll have to rewatch too. My impression is that he was correct, that it was the reason Cameron was insisting they leave Princeton.

Date: 2009-11-17 02:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sabra-n.livejournal.com
But didn't Chase call that out as a lie? He only started thinking it was true when Cameron sorta-confirmed it herself, which leads me to think that it was a mix of a manipulative lie and House making an educated guess as to Cameron's thinking.

It was completely vile of him to do what he was doing though - breaking up a marriage just to get a fellow or two? WTF? I can only sorta make it okay if I think that House thought he was just speeding up the inevitable - he may have been right about that. But it was still vile.

Date: 2009-11-17 02:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pwcorgigirl.livejournal.com
I thought that was when House planted the idea. And yes, it was vile to break up their relationship just to get a team member back. If they had gotten away from him, they'd have either made it or not on their own terms, but he made sure they didn't get the chance.

From: [identity profile] namasteyoga.livejournal.com
I'd agree with taiga and sabra here. I think House was correct and that was the reason she wanted to leave immediately. And not just leave the team, but move to another city as far away as possible. She phrased it to Chase as him needing to get somewhere else, but I think House had it right a couple of episodes back when he forced Chase to go and confront it.

Interesting is a good choice of words. And it was good to see Taub, again. House was indeed a major arse, tonight. 'I' wanted to break his nose! Grrr! I'd like to see Wilson punch him, too. *envisions black & blue face with nose bandaging*

I don't think Cameron and Chase should've ever gotten together. And Chase, still doesn't think for himself entirely, yet. Lucas had some good points to make and he's not as dumb as I thought he was at first. I couldn't figure out what Cuddy was doing with him. I hope 13 moves on and Cameron too.

I have to say, though, that HL sure does have that devilish- gleam-in-his-eye mastered, does he not? LOL.

Lucas is awesome. :-) I love his insight. He's never struck me as dumb--often bumbling and unsure how to phrase unpleasant truths so they don't hurt, but not dumb.

I'd only seen him in the last episode when he was holding the baby and House walked in. It was not the best first impression. LOL.

For some reason I have missed the last of season 5 and all but the most recent two episodes of season 6. So last week I had no idea who he was. But no, he is not dumb. He got Chase thinking, didn't he? =D

"Interesting" is a very good word. Has anyone else noticed that House seems less "better" with every episode? This episode could have been from any other seasons, honestly. Poor Chase and Cameron. Speaking of Cameron/Jennifer Morrison, am I the only one who thinks her departure was a little abrupt?
By the way, I should say that this is the first time I've commented (sorry for the "anonymous" comment but I don't have an LJ) but that I really like your "House" fiction! =)
